Key features of the Spec Book Pro Web Application
Work from anywhere, anytime. You only need an Internet connection and a Web browser!
It can be used from any Internet connection. You can work from the office, home, client sites, etc. A designer in New York and a designer in Atlanta can be working on the same project.
Flexible staffing — Users can be added quickly (and limited to a specific project, if necessary)
You can add a new user in two minutes. Then that user will be able to start working from anywhere in the civilized world — immediately. If you have a large project and want to use off-site contract designers for that project only, you can limit them to work on that project only and they won't be able to see the other projects for your firm.
Easy to understand Pricing
Your firm pays a monthly fee per user. (Custom work, such as formatting report templates and importing vendor addresses, is an extra charge.) We also charge a small fee for setting up your account.
No investment in computer hardware, software, or support required
Spec Book Pro online does not use your server. There's no up-front investment in software, no PC installation/configuration and no maintenance/upgrade headaches. You do need a current version of Microsoft Internet Explorer web browser and Adobe Reader, which are both free. We recommend a fast connection to the Web for maximum productivity.
Scalable and affordable -- for small and large firms
For the very small firm to the multi-location corporation, Spec Book Pro can handle companies with one or dozens of authorized users. You only pay for the people who create specs.
Use Manufacturer's product catalogs on the Web
When you are creating specs, you get specification data and images from the web page of the Manufacturer's product catalog. Designers can click on the link to the Manufacturer and copy and paste the product data into the description and notes for the specification, saving valuable time and eliminating errors. Copy the image of the item from the manufacturer's web site catalog to the Spec Book Pro Image Library -- no more wasting valuable time scanning photos from catalogs.
Reports for Managing your Firm
Spec Book Pro tracks the time logged by each user and for
each project. If you can charge your client for your costs, you can itemize the
cost of using Spec Book Pro for a project and charge it back to your client.
Even if you cannot charge back this cost, you will be able to estimate the costs
of creating specs for future projects with greater precision.
One person can own a spec so no other user can
change it. If a Project is configured so that only the Issued By name can
edit a spec, then only the person who created it can modify that spec (unless
the Issued By name is changed). Here's how it works: when you create a
spec, Spec Book Pro automatically assigns your user name as the owner of the
spec (the Issued By name). Other users cannot edit that spec because
their user name does not match the Issued By name for the spec. This kind
of security is important when there are many people working on a project,
especially if they are in separate locations.
